KiwiMileage ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the KiwiMileage mobile application and website used by drivers in New Zealand.
Account information: your name, email address, and password (stored securely as a hash).
Driver profile: full name, driver licence number and expiry, and phone number, as you provide them.
Vehicle data: registration number, make, model, VIN, odometer reading, and compliance dates.
Trip data: start and end time, distance, duration, purpose, and category for each logged journey.
Location data: when Smart Trip Detection is enabled, we use your device location to detect trips and calculate mileage. See our GPS & Location Policy for details.
Expense and document data: receipts, invoices, and compliance documents you upload.
Usage data: anonymised analytics about how you use the app, if usage analytics is enabled.
To provide trip logging, mileage reporting, and compliance tracking features.
To generate accountant-ready and IRD-ready reports from your driving and expense data.
To send reminders about upcoming rego, WOF, COF, insurance, service, and licence expiries.
To operate and maintain your membership, including free trial and subscription billing.
To improve the app through aggregated, non-identifying analytics.
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us operate the app (such as payment processing and cloud hosting), and only to the extent necessary. We may disclose information when required by law, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS) and secure storage. Access to your account is protected by your password. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
You can enable or disable Smart Trip Detection and location services at any time in Settings.
You can turn usage analytics and personalised reports on or off in Settings.
You can request export or deletion of your data by contacting us.
You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Membership screen.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and request deletion of associated data; some records may be kept where required by law or for legitimate business records such as tax reporting.
KiwiMileage is not intended for users under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes within the app.
